Donald Trump is 'losing' daughter Ivanka - begging, anger and humiliating snub

When Donald Trump announced he was making a US presidency bid in 2024 - he was joined on stage by members of his family. But there was a very noticeable absence.

The 76-year-old confirmed he is running to be the Republican candidate in two years time during a speech at his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida.

"In order to make America great and glorious again. I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States," Trump said while flanked by 'Make America Great Again'.

"I am running because I believe the world has not yet seen the true glory of what this nation can be," he added. "We will again put America first."

An audience of roughly 1,000 people watched on and applauded - but his daughter Ivanka Trump was missing.

Ivanka was an executive vice president of the Trump Organization, one of his aides on The Apprentice and became a senior advisor in her dad's presidential administration.

While her husband, Jared Kushner, became a senior White House advisor and was the primary participant in the Middle East Peace Process in 2020, as well as influencing the Covid-19 response.

Kushner was there to watch Trump announce his third bid for the White House, but he didn't get up on stage and his wife was nowhere to be seen.

Ivanka has since explained exactly why she wasn't there - she's done with politics.

The 41-year-old, who is mum to three kids, Arabella, Joseph and Theodore, is putting her family first and wants to stay out of her father's political interests.

"I love my father very much. This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics," she said in a statement on her Instagram stories.

"While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena.

"I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and I will always be proud of many of our administration’s accomplishments."

But this was not Trump's desire, as he was reportedly begging his daughter and son-in-law to join him on stage.

His other daughter, Tiffany, got married at the weekend - and it's been claimed that Trump spent time trying to cajole Ivanka and Jared.

He wanted the family to put on a united front, especially after his Midterms humiliation, but his appeals were clearly rejected.

"Trump thought he could convince Ivanka this weekend to come back and campaign for him as she was the most requested speaker after the president himself last time around … but so far she’s resisting his entreaties and holding firm, as is Jared," an insider told the New York Post.

"They both feel they got burned in Washington and don't want to go back and expose themselves and their children to another bitter campaign."

While Donald Jr. was unable to make it back in time from a hunting trip after his scheduled flight was scrapped, Trump did get the support of his other two sons, Eric and Baron.

Donald Jr. and Eric, along with their wives, Kimberly Guilfoyle and Lara Trump, are all in for another presidential bid and have always been firm backers of their father.

But this is not the first time that cracks have started to show in his relationship with Ivanka, who has been trying to distance herself from her dad for a while.

Ivanka and Jared were hit by nepotism accusations while working in Trump's administration and got into rows with some of his prominent allies.

Some did not like how much influence Kushner had over domestic policy debates, staffing decisions and even foreign affairs.

He was involved in brokering the US-Mexico-Canada trade agreement in 2018, helped lead the White House COVID-19 response in 2020 and helped forge the Abraham Accords between Israel and four Arab countries.

But after he lost to President Joe Biden, there was a bit of a shift as the couple tried to distance themsevles from Trump.

Last year, they weren’t around for the usual spring and summer events at Mar-a-Lago, despite the physical distance between them not being very far.

"After spending four years serving and traveling the country extensively, Ivanka is taking time with family and friends," her former chief of staff, Julie Radford, told CNN.

Then came a big blow, when Ivanka seemingly turned on her dad by revealing she does not believe his election fraud claim.

Ivanka told the congressional panel investigating the insurrection at the US Capitol in January 2021 that she doesn't believe her father's false claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

"I respect Attorney General Barr. So I accepted what he was saying," said Ivanka in a video deposition in June this year.

Furious Trump responded by saying Ivanka was "not involved in looking" at the results of the 2020 election.

"Ivanka Trump was not involved in looking at, or studying, Election results," he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

He continued to say his daughter had "long since checked out" and in his opinion was "only trying to be respectful to Bill Barr and his position as attorney general (he sucked)".

It marked a strong change in tone from Trump, who had never spoken out against his daughter before.

Many believe that Ivanka is his favourite child, but it seems that their relationship isn't as strong as it once was.
