Donald Trump falsely claims 'thousands' cheering and brands protest 'fake news'

Donald Trump has falsely claimed there are "thousands" of people cheering for him on the streets of London.

And speaking at a joint press conference with Theresa May he claimed the protests against him in the capital were 'fake news'.

President Trump had earlier been forced to drive past the inflatable 'Trump Blimp', flying over Westminster's Parliament Square, on his way to meet Theresa May on Downing Street.

But he claimed that after the State Dinner last night, "we left the Prime Minister, the Queen, the royal family, there were thousands of people on the streets cheering.

"Even coming over today there were thousands of people cheering.

"Then I heard there were protests, I said 'Where are the protests? I don't see any protests'.

"I did see a small protest today when I came - very small - so a lot of it is fake news I hate to say."

The Mirror was outside Buckinham Palace during the State Dinner last night.

While there were a handful of Trump supporters, they were vastly outnumbered by the noisy group of protesters on the opposite side of the Mall.

And today thousands of protesters took to the streets in protest against the President's state visit.

Trump's Presidential convoy has been forced to drive past the inflatable blimp of himself as a screaming, orange, nappy-clad baby.

Armoured limo The Beast was pelted with boos - and some shouts of support - as it passed the eye-catching effigy hovering over Parliament Square.
