Donald Trump has pinned the blame for California wildfires on Governor Gavin Newsom who he claims could have prevented such devastation by cleaning the forest floor.
Speaking to reporters on the White House lawn, the president laid into his rival and biggest critic who has recently been making some major threats against Donald. When asked by a reporter if his recent “dust-ups” with Newsom were having a negative impact on the wildfire relief efforts in the area Trump immediately began pointing the finger, finding any reason to pin the blame on Newsom and shift it away from himself.
A clip from the interview was posted on X and it shows Donald Trump blaming Newsom for being the one to not do enough to prevent the disastrous fires in his state.
Reporter: Could your recent dustups with Newsom impact wildfire relief?

Trump: Sure, maybe. He shouldn't have fires like that. You clean the floor of your forest and you won't have any forest fires.@atruparpic.twitter.com/85ggcIP3u7
According to the president the California governor is incompetent and “shouldn’t have fires like that.” He supposedly could have implemented more preventative measures as Trump says “you clean the floor of your forest and you won’t have any fires.”
What is Donald Trump talking about?
Now we know that Trump ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but even a dummy like him should be able to recognize the foolishness of such a statement. Anyone who’s ever walked through a forest will be able to tell you that the floor is pretty much all dirt.
It’s not as if you’re going to get streetsweepers come through the woods every morning to clear out the debris on the floor, you can’t clean a forest the same way one does a sidewalk. Maybe Trump just wants to pour concrete over the forest floor the same way he did the White House rose garden.
Even if you could feasibly “clean the floor of the forest,” it’s hard to imagine that would actually give any sort of protection from forest fires. We know that the cause of these fires isn’t something one governor could really put a stop to. Rising temperatures and less rainfall thanks to global warming (something which Trump outright denies is happening) are the cause of such devastating disasters, but I guess pinning the blame on Newsom is easier for Trump and his followers. Maybe Trump would actually prefer it if the forests did burn down.
The president is punishing all of California over beef with Newsom
Trump ended his rant by preaching against hatred, telling reporters, “hatred is never a good thing in politics. When you don’t like somebody, you don’t respect somebody, it’s hard for that person to get money if you’re on top.” It’s ironic that Trump of all people is condemning hatred in politics, especially when he practically admits he’s making it harder for Newsom to get the necessary funds to fight the fires because of their beef.
It’s terrifying to know somebody so unintelligent is leading the country. Remember, this is the same guy who suggested people inject disinfectant as a treatment for COVID. Unfortunately he has not gotten any smarter in the years since as his recent comments prove.
