Donald Trump dubs Boris Johnson 'Britain Trump' as he lavishes praise on new PM

Donald Trump has lavished praise on Boris Johnson - dubbing him "Britain Trump".

The US President made the comments during a speech to Turning Point USA, a right-wing youth group.

He told the crowd of politically active teenagers Johnson was "a good man" and that he was "tough and smart."

And he said Johnson would work well with Nigel Farage.

President Trump said: "A really good man is going to be the Prime Minister of the UK now, Boris Johnson . Good man. He's tough and he's smart.

"They're saying "Britain Trump". They call him "Britain Trump.""

He went on to claim that the Britain Trump moniker was a compliment, because "they like me over there."

He added: "They like me over there. That's what they wanted. That's what they need. He'll get it done. Boris is good. He's going to do a good job."

He went on to look for Nigel Farage in the audience - the Brexit Party leader was also attending the event.

He said: "I tell you what, he got 32% of the vote from nowhere over in UK.

"Nigel, thank you Nigel. I said "What's Nigel doing here, he's a little older than you folks."

"But he did a great job and I know he's going to work well with Boris. They're going to do some tremendous things."
