Donald Trump 'did not knowingly co-ordinate with Russia' during 2016 campaign

Donald Trump and his associates did not knowingly co-ordinate with Russia during his campaign, according to a special council report.

Robert Mueller's two-year investigation into the 2016 election found that neither the US President or his officials were involved in "conspiracy or coordination".

It has also not exonerated the US President of obstruction of justice or found that he committed a crime.

That is according to a summary of his findings provided to Congress by the Justice Department this evening.

Donald Trump's treasury secretary grilled over links to movie company owned by his Scots wife

The summary also says Mr Mueller did not find that the Trump campaign or its associates "conspired or coordinated" with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 election.

The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee said a letter from the Justice Department describing the findings "does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him".

The department sent the letter to Jerrold Nadler on Sunday afternoon.

Mr Nadler tweeted that the Justice Department "determined not to make a traditional prosecutorial judgment".
