Donald Trump claims noise from wind turbines causes cancer

US President Donald Trump has been savagely mocked and branded a figure “beyond parody” after he claimed noise from industrial wind turbines causes cancer.

The President made the extraordinary claim while speaking at the National Republican Congressional Committee dinner on Tuesday.

Mr Trump went on a tangent about wind turbines, and their alleged hazardous effects, after criticising former presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

He said: “Hillary wanted to put up wind…wind.

Mr Trump made the comments while at a Spring Dinner (EPA)

“If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations your house just went down 75 per cent in value. And they say the noise causes cancer, you tell me that one, OK?"

The 72-year-old then imitated the sound of a wind turbine while waving his arm around.

He added: “The thing makes so much noise, and of course it’s like a graveyard for birds. If you loved birds, you’d never want to walk under a windmill again.”

There has not been any confirmation the noise from industrial wind turbines causes cancer.

Mr Trump’s warning about health risks drew criticism online.

Brian Tyler Cohen wrote: “Trump claiming that the noise from windmill (s) causes cancer. This is just beyond parody at this point”.

Zeb Tuell wrote: “Yeah, I hear the windmill blows the cancer into you”.

While Pam Rodi wrote: “Good God! This man’s idiocy never ceases to amaze”.
