Donald Trump's campaign website was taken offline last night after apparently being hacked.
For a few minutes, the events page of the website donaldjtrump.com showed a message apparently placed there by hackers, before going offline entirely.
The message, posted below the crests of the FBI and Department of Justice, read: "This site was seized."
It went on: "The world has had enough of the fake-news spreaded (sic) daily by President Donald J Trump.
"It is time to allow the world to know the truth."
The message went on to claim "multiple devices" had been compromised, which allowed the hackers access to data from "Trump and relatives."
The campaign said in a statement that they were working with law enforcement, and that there was "no exposure to sensitive data because none of it is actually stored on the site."
It goes on to claim "internal and secret conversations strictly classified information" proved the Trump administration had been involved in the "origin" of the coronavirus.
And it claims: "We have evidence that completely discredits Mr Trump as a President, proving his criminal involvement and coorperation (sic) with foreign actors manipulating the 2020 elections. The US citizens have no choice.
The apparent hackers did not provide any evidence for any of the outlandish claims made in the message.
But they included a pair of account numbers for a cryptocurrency, Monero.
They said the public could vote by donating cash to one account if they wanted the information release, or the other if they did not.
