Donald Trump 'calls the White House a real dump'

Donald Trump reportedly described the White House as "a real dump" to members of his golf club.

While explaining his frequent visits to the facility in Bedminster, New Jersey, he was said to have made the claim during a round with some of its high-paying patrons.

“That White House is a real dump,” he reportedly said, according to Golf magazine.

A White House spokesperson later denied this in a statement to the publication.

The comments were picked up upon by Chelsea Clinton, who took to Twitter to respond to Mr Trump’s alleged comments.

The former first daughter then thanked people who work in the White House.

Since taking office, Mr Trump has visited various properties he owns and leases, taking a trip almost every weekend.

In his first 170 days as president, it was found that he had spent 22 per cent of his time at golf clubs that he owns.

Before taking office, he repeatedtly attacked his predecessor, Barack Obama, for spending time on the course, yet Mr Trump has visited the golf course more.

The number of golf trips is not entirely clear as the press pool has sometimes been kept away from the course and the administration has refused to confirm if the President was playing sport.

People have resorted to social media, sharing photographs and tweets, to confirm the President's whereabouts.

His trips have cost the taxpayers millions of dollars due to the cost of Air Force One transport, secret service, coast guards and other agencies.
