Donald Trump has time and again proved his lack of humility and fragile ego, almost every time he has to face off against the press. This time, he attacked a senior White House correspondent at CNN.
During an Antifa roundtable in the White House on Wednesday, Oct. 8, the man-child President Trump refused to answer a simple question from CNN’s Kristen Holmes. His reasoning? He believes CNN is a leftist, Democrat-supporting network and the “second worst” of all.
What’s even bizarre is that Trump started a “chat” about “the worst network” with the journalists at a conference supposed to talk about Antifa. This comes after he threatened to cancel the licenses of any media networks that constantly air content against him last month. The MAGA dunce first began slamming MSNBC and its head, Brian Roberts, calling the network “sick” and their reporting a “disgrace.” He then “ranked” CNN as the second worst and said:
“In a way, it’s a waste of time because if you give a great answer, they don’t put it on. If you give a horrendous answer, or even if you give a great answer, they make it sound like it’s not a great answer. They’re very dishonest.”
A few journalists at the table also joined him in bashing the two networks, to which Trump rejoiced, “Fortunately, their ratings are terrible.” He then claimed that MSNBC and CNN are “dying like a dog” before calling the latter “poor” and “pathetic.” He continued to needlessly drag the network instead of talking about the real point of the conference:
“You ever see their anchors in the evening that nobody ever heard of? Where did these people come from? I could take anybody off the street in Washington, D.C., they’d do a better job.”
And when CNN journalist Holmes asked Trump, “Are you personally participating in the ceasefire?” that he announced on his Truth Social account, he simply called it a waste of time. “This is CNN speaking, by the way. This is one of the worst reporters that you’ll ever see,” he attacked her before she could even finish her question. And right after, he replied: “I don’t even want to take a question, it’s a waste of time.”
Ironically, Holmes was the only one at the table who asked a valid question, while others at the table were busy ranting with Trump about good and bad media networks. However, this isn’t the first time he has deflected a question from journalists whom he perceives to be on the opposing end of the political spectrum. Because that’s exactly what an authoritarian government does.
