Donald Trump breaks silence to wrongly claim he's won election hours after Biden victory

Donald Trump has broken his social media silence to falsely claim he has won despite the election being called for Joe Biden five hours ago.

In an series of outrageous tweets, which already carry warnings disputing their claims of electoral fraud, by the social media giant, Trump claims to have won.

In his first message since Joe Biden was declared as the winner by numerous news outlets around the world, Mr Trump used all capital letters in a new Twitter outburst.

His message claimed: "THE OBSERVERS WERE NOT ALLOWED INTO THE COUNTING ROOMS.

"I WON THE ELECTION, GOT 71,000,000 LEGAL VOTES.

"BAD THINGS HAPPENED WHICH OUR OBSERVERS WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SEE.

'NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. MILLIONS OF MAIL-IN BALLOTS WERE SENT TO PEOPLE WHO NEVER ASKED FOR THEM!"

And just two minutes later he followed his first tweet, with a second, which read: "71,000,000 Legal Votes.

"The most EVER for a sitting President!"

The foul-tempered incumbent was playing golf when the announcement was made, but he has since been photographed arriving back at the White House.

Shortly after the election was called the President issued a statement repeating his baseless claims over election fraud, saying: "The simple fact is this election is far from over."

He said that his lawyers will be going to court in a bid to overturn the result after the American people voted him out.

Biden's victory came after flipping back the 'rust belt' industrial states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, which Trump won by slim margins in 2016.

It means his running mate, Kamala Harris has made history as the first woman and person of colour to be elected Vice President.

The race was called following the release of 3,000 counted votes from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania shortly after 4pm UK time, which pushed Biden's lead in the state above 30,000 votes.

Later, Nevada was called in his favour as well, while he leads in Georgia and Arizona.

Biden said in a statement: "I am honored and humbled by the trust the American people have placed in me and in Vice President-elect (Kamala) Harris.

"In the face of unprecedented obstacles, a record number of Americans voted.

"With the campaign over, it's time to put the anger and the harsh rhetoric behind us and come together as a nation. It's time for America to unite. And to heal."
