Donald Trump will open up the United States to Irish and other European tourists again when countries are "making progress".
The US President was asked about the travel bans to the United States and said they will be eased on a country by country basis.
Trump just introduced bans on travel from Brazil, the new coronavirus epicentre, but said a lot of Europe is progressing well.
The President said: "We'll be doing announcements on specific countries as we go along.
"Where they are making progress we'll start easing it up, but only when they are making progress. They are making some good progress."
However US secretary Steven Mnuchin said earlier this month that it's "too hard to tell" if the European travel ban will even be lifted this year.
He added: "I hope down the road it is(possible to open)...our priority is opening up the domestic economy."
Trump introduced the travel ban in March for most of the world including Ireland.
More than 100,000 people have so far died in the United States of America from the coronavirus with in excess of 1.74 million cases.
