Donald Trump accuses Barack Obama of being 'most corrupt president in US history'

Donald Trump escalated his feud with Barack Obama today accusing him of being “the most corrupt president in US history” after the Democrat savaged his handling of the coronavirus crisis.

Mr Trump hit back at his predecessor after he told graduating college students in an online address that the pandemic has shown many officials “aren’t even pretending to be in charge”.

“More than anything this pandemic has fully, finally torn back the curtain on the idea that so many of the folks in charge know what they’re doing,” he said.

Mr Obama’s comments came after he had labelled the Trump administration’s coronavirus response “an absolute chaotic disaster”.

Writing on Twitter, Mr Trump today labelled the Obama administration “the most incompetent and corrupt… in US history!”.

He also retweeted a message from right-wing radio host Dan Bongino, who wrote: “Obama was the most corrupt President in US history”, with the message: “100% correct!”.

Meanwhile, one of Mr Trump’s top economic advisers, Peter Navarro, has accused America’s top disease control body of “letting the country down” in its early response to the virus.
