Donald Glover drops first look at Rihanna collaboration in Guava Island teaser

Donald Glover has shared a teaser of his new film Guava Island, which he collaborated on with Rihanna.

The actor, known musically as Childish Gambino, announced he will drop the film on Amazon Prime after his headline performance at Coachella this Saturday.

The brief teaser trailer shows Glover running along a sandy beach as Rihanna watches on.

A short synopsis of the film reads: “On Guava Island, a local musician is determined to throw a festival for everyone to enjoy.”

"I'm really humbled having the opportunity to present something this timely and timeless,” Glover said in a statement. "Between Rihanna and the people of Cuba, this is one of my favourite projects I've ever worked on."

Alongside the superstar duo, the film will also welcome Black Panther star Letitia Wright and Game of Thrones actor Nonso Anozie and is expected to be available from 8:01am UK time on Saturday morning on the streaming platform.

According to Vanity Fair, the film will be free to watch for 18-hours after it drops on the site.

Director Hiro Murai described it as a “fever dream” adding that the cast and crew shot it in four weeks during their time in Cuba.

He said: "Guava Island is the end result of four incredible weeks spent in Cuba with some of the most inspiring creative talents I've ever met.

"Designers, performers, musicians, and filmmakers came together from all over the world to create this crazy fever dream of a production."

Guava Island is available to stream on Amazon Prime from 8:01am on Saturday
