Donaghadee FC vow to fight Irish FA all the way in legal dispute

Donaghadee FC have vowed to fight the Irish FA all the way over legal costs incurred by their recent failed arbitration case.

The Co Down outfit lost their challenge after taking the Amateur League to appeal, and then the IFA to arbitration last month, citing a lack of "sporting integrity" in the way they wound up the season.

They were ordered to pay costs.

The club say they are happy to pay the cost of the hearing, but not the costs incurred by the IFA, who hired a solicitor and a QC to fight their corner.

Jamie Bryson, who manages and represents the seaside club, said: "This is a matter for the IFA, however if they do wish to engage in a lengthy dispute over legal costs then all efforts to obtain disproportionate costs will be robustly resisted via every legal mechanism available."

Meanwhile, Donaghadee have confirmed they will be lodging an application today, asking for the arbitration decision to be reopened, insisting for them the case is "far from over".
