Donaghadee Chunky Dunkers Santa Splash helps some members with their mental health

Scores of Christmas lovers donned their festive finest to take part in an annual Co Down Santa Splash credited with helping some battling mental health issues, this morning.

The Donaghadee Chunky Swimmers event is open to people of all ages and swimming abilities and is organised by one of the longest running sea swimming groups in NI.

Operating informally for around eight years, Martin Strain says they have grown extensively over the past three years.

He also said they cold water plunges they organise have helped members battle mental health issues.

Our photographer Justin Kernoghan was there to capture all the action.
