Donagahdee car fire sees two vehicles badly damaged

Two cars have been badly damaged in an incident in Co Down on Friday.

Video footage of the fire shows the two vehicles on fire at Bow Street in Donaghadee.

The fire, understood to be accidental, occurred at around lunch time and was dealt with by firefighters from Bangor.

Witnesses to the blaze have suggested one car went on fire with the flames spreading to the second vehicle.

One fire appliance was seen at the incident soon after the fire was reported.

In a statement the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they were called to an incident at Bow Street, Donaghadee on Friday at 12.10pm.

An NIFRS spokesman said that one Fire Appliance from Bangor Fire Station attended the incident.

They added that firefighters were called to two cars on fire.

The statement said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two jets to extinguish the fire. The incident was dealt with by 12.45pm and the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental ignition.”
