Schools to close as Donabate area to be without water for large part of the day

Two schools will be closed as a north Dublin seaside town is to be without water for a large part of the day.

Donabate will see a planned water outage on Tuesday from 9 am to 4 pm.

Students of the St Patricks Boys' National School and Donabate Portrane Educate Together National School have been told that the schools will be closed from 12 noon onwards.

Affected areas include Portrane Road from the Community Centre to Middlefield and all estates.

A spokesperson for Fingal County Council said: “Water outage in Donabate, Tuesday 3rd March 2020 to enable repairs to burst water main - Water will be off between 9am - 4pm (approx).

“Low pressure as a result of the burst will be experienced overnight.

“Areas affected: Portrane Road (from Community Centre to Middlefield and all estates accessed therefrom). We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this disruption.

“Irish Water is aware of the outage.”
