Don't you love Spoonsville?

It's the lockdown craze that has made it to the Canberra region.

Spoonsville - little "villages" of decorated wooden spoons - have become a thing in this latest lockdown, popping up everywhere from Bendigo to Wollongong.

They are also springing up just over the border, in Queanbeyan and Googong.

Googong mum Telesha Newman loved the idea of giving her kids something to do during lockdown, while also bringing some whimsy and joy to the neighbourhood.

"I initially started this as I have young children and keeping them occupied throughout this time can be difficult. So we often turn to some form of creative activity. We wanted to share this with the broader community and allow other kids and their families to get involved," she said.

"This gives our families something exciting to look at whilst getting their daily excercise and I must say, seeing the excitement on their faces as they walk past is truly amazing. After all, we all need something to make our days a little brighter."

Telesha can also make the task of creating a wooden spoon that little easier.

"I run a small online business called Treasured Minds and sell the spoon kits for $5 each which includes a wooden spoon and a variety of craft materials for their creations," she said.

"Alternatively, they can use materials they have lying around the house to help create their own little masterpiece."

Telesha said the wooden spoon kit was proving a hit, with 10 to 15 packs being delivered each day.

"We deliver to the Queanbeyan area but if people in Canberra want them, we can mail them out," she said.

Telesha and her partner Matt have four children between them, aged from 14 to seven, so keeping them occupied during lockdown has been a priority.

"It's actually been really nice as well because they're the ones who want to be involved in the deliveries," she said.

"And also they love going for a walk checking out how many new spoons have been added to the village. It's created a bit of excitement.

"People drop off their spoons and take a photo and I've seen how people get so excited by such a simple thing. It's really cool."

There are Spoonsvilles at Lindbeck Corner in Googong and Letch Park and Town Park in Queanbeyan. Canberra, we need to step up.

Treasured Minds is on Facebook and Instagram.
