Don't write-off Strictly's AJ and Kai yet says judge Motsi Mabuse on It Takes Two

Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse has urged injury-hit AJ Odudu to "put her heart on the dancefloor" when it comes to the final on Saturday.

TV presenter, AJ, 33, is due to compete in the grand finale of the BBC One show with her professional dance partner Kai Widdrington.

But she has been unable to rehearse since Monday after injuring the ligament in the arch of her right foot and has also had to use crutches.

On Strictly It Takes Two on Thursday (December 16), Motsi said AJ has the strength to compete and people shouldn't "put her to the side already."

Motsi told host Janette Manrara: "She has the strength, she has shown it. She's been in the dance off and came back even stronger. So all I can say is, put your heart on the dancefloor, take care of yourself, but go out there and have a really great time."

Motsi Mabuse, who appeared on the show with pink hair and a bright green outfit, said this series of Strictly had been her favourite one so far.

She praised Rose Ayling-Ellis couple's choice with dance partner Giovanni Pernice - which featured a silent interlude - as one of her highlights of the series and said losing Tom Fletcher and Rhys Stephenson in the competition was 'tough'".

Of the other finalists, Motsi praised John Whaite's consistency and detail and said Rose had an aura that had really connected with people.

Earlier on Thursday, presenter Tess Daly gave an update on AJ Odudu's injury, telling ITV’s This Morning: “We are hoping and praying she is going to be recovered fully in order to dance on Saturday night, we are all behind her and I know she had treatment last night and we are hoping she’ll go back into training this afternoon.”

The Strictly final is on BBC on Saturday, December 18 from 7pm to 9.05pm and features a guest appearance from Ed Sheeran
