Don't worry, I'm there: MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan to Covid orphan battling loan notices

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met the Covid orphan battling loan recovery notices from LIC Housing Finance Ltd at his residence on Thursday and assured her that he will approach Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to get her father's loan waived.

The CM also tweeted about the meeting: "Daughter Vanisha, you need not worry about anything. Focus on your studies. You and others like you are my children. My blessings are always with you."

TOI had reported on Sunday how, despite losing both her parents to Covid last year, the girl scored 99.8% in her board exams, but her fight to 'stand tall' was hit by the loan repayment notices. Sitharaman on Monday took note of her struggle and directed LIC to "look into the matter" and brief her on the status.

Now, the CM has promised to talk to the finance minister to get the schoolgirl much-needed relief. Chouhan met her and her younger brother at CM House on Thursday. During the interaction with the CM, the 17-year-old schoolgirl told him that she was not in a situation to repay the loan.

'Govt will solve edu issues of all Covid orphans'

He gave me all his attention. I am thankful to him for calling us to his residence and listening to my pain," said the braveheart who battled through bereavement to emerge a city topper last year. Her maternal uncle professor Ashok Sharma and aunt Bhavana Sharma were also present during the meeting with the CM and informed him about her academic and other achievements.

Chouhan assured that the government will resolve all problems related to the education of children who have lost their parents to Corona. He said he would also request Union finance minister Sitharaman for other necessary assistance to her.

The CM tweeted about the meeting: "Daughter Vanisha, you need not worry about anything. Focus on your studies. You and others like you are my children. My blessings are always with you."
