Don't Tell the Bride Scot praises her groom's surprise wedding skydive

Being flung out of a plane at 13,000ft on your wedding day would make most brides run for the hills.

But Jackie Clark, 40, took the “jump now, kill him later” approach when hubby John, 40, arranged for her to skydive on the morning of their big day back in May 2011.

And the jump was just one of the wild surprises that the eccentric groom laid on for his bride-to-be after she handed over control of the wedding to him.

He also arranged for a Christmas-themed reception in the middle of summer at the local miners’ club, complete with a special nose-job cake and cat-covered toilet seats.

Thanks to John, the couple, of Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow, had one of the wackiest and most memorable weddings to feature on Don’t Tell The Bride.

But despite being struck dumb from shock on the day, Jackie said she would not have changed a thing and neither would John, who is now a successful wedding photographer.

Mum-of-three Jackie, who works alongside her husband, said: “It was the best thing we have ever done and looking back I would not have had it any other way.

“I wasn’t someone who had planned their wedding in their head or dreamed of their big day since I was a child. I’m not like that.

“My attitude has always been, ‘What is the worst that can happen?’ I don’t know whether we would actually have tied the knot yet if we hadn’t done it that way. We would probably still be deciding.

“It’s been 10 years since the show and we are still happily married, have three beautiful children – Dexter, nine, Felix, six and Andi, five – and even run a business together. Life is good.”

John, added “Taking part in the show is still the best decision we ever made. I have encouraged others to apply for the show.

"If you are brave enough I would say just go for it. Look at the story that we have got to tell our kids.”
