NCT U sing in Thai
To appeal to Thai fans, many K-pop groups sing Thai songs at their gigs. Some go even further, releasing songs in Thai. Recently, NCT U followed this trend by launching a Thai version of their popular song, “Baby Don’t Stop.”
In order to promote the song, two members of NCT U - Thai member Ten, 22, and Taeyong, 22 - visited Thailand for two days. On June 2, they met fans and the press at an autograph signing event and press conference for NCT U: Taeyong x Ten Fan Meeting in Bangkok at Helix Garden, Emquartier.
The next day, the fan meeting took place at GMM Live House, CentralWorld. The event was divided into two parts. During the first, the duo answered questions from the MC and fans. They also played games with each other and decorated flowerpots to give away to the fans.
During the second part, the guys performed songs. Ten sang the dance track “New Heroes,” while Taeyong showed off his rapping, singing and dancing skills on the EDM track, “Around.” They ended the evening with a performance of the Thai version of “Baby Don’t Stop.”
Here are some highlights from the press conference and fan meeting.

Can you tell us about “Baby Don’t Stop”?
Taeyong: The song was inspired by our fans. The song promises that we’ll never stop getting to know them. I wrote the rap part.
How did it feel to have Thaitanium’s Khan and Southside’s Twopee write the Thai lyrics for the song?
Ten: I’m glad, but I haven’t had a chance to meet them in person. I’d like to thank them. If possible, I hope to work with them in the future.
What was it like to sing in Thai?
Ten: The fans know that I’m not fluent. So to prepare, I listened to a lot of Thai songs and try to pronounce each word clearly. The producer helped me out.

What is your impression of each other?
Taeyong: Ten has a lot of charm. He’s a great dancer and singer.
Ten: Taeyong is determined. He always gives me advice when we practice together.
What would do if you could go back to when you were ten years old again?
Ten: I’d drink a lot of milk, so that I could be taller. And I would pay more attention in my Thai language classes.
Taeyong: I’d start singing and dancing from that age.
