Don’t panic, we will come out of it strong

By: Sarita Ghose

Like most people living in the city, I also developed flu-like symptoms from Monday itself when I was

heading to school for some official work, mostly regarding an impending vaccination camp for students in our school. But by the time I reached school, I started feeling uneasy.

I had fever on Monday evening and all other accompanying symptoms of Covid-19 as I consulted a doctor and ordered a test for the next day and also started my dose of antibiotics.

The next morning, I woke up with a heavy head but that weaned off in a while as I resumed my online classes and have been continuing them since Friday as well while staying in isolation. I had tested positive on Thursday.

I live with my two grown up children.

I had tested positive for Covid-19 during the first wave as well but that time my situation was very bad and I had trouble even going to the bathroom by myself. My oxygen saturation level had also fallen and I had trouble breathing but there are no such symptoms this time.

I am obviously not as fit as I should be but I can still continue my daily activities. There are some colleagues who are single parents and others have small children and their struggle is even tougher. I will keep on working till I am fit enough to work, else someone else will have to do it. But I want to tell there is nothing to panic and we can all come out of it strong.

(The 52-year-old senior teacher at a private school, who tested positive on Thursday, spoke to Tamaghna Banerjee)
