Don't miss extra bin collection from South Lanarkshire Council this weekend

South Lanarkshire Council are to put on an extra bin collections service this Saturday.

The local authority say it’s to collect black/green bins that were missed on Thursday, March 26, when they temporarily suspended the service due to reviewing workers conditions during the coronavirus outbreak.

South Lanarkshire Council posted on their Facebook page today: “We will put on an extra service on Saturday to collect black/green bins that were missed on Thursday, March 26, in the Hamilton and Clydesdale areas.

“Please make sure all of your waste is in your bin. Any extra waste you have should be put in your bin once emptied and will be collected on your next scheduled collection day.

“Please have your bin at the kerbside by 6.30am. Any bins not presented will be emptied on the next collection day.

“Blue bins missed in East Kilbride, Cambuslang and Rutherglen should be put out on their next scheduled collection day.

“Huge thanks go to the crews giving up their Saturday to allow this to happen.”

South Lanarkshire Council temporarily suspended uplifts on Thursday, March 26, while they reviewed the coronavirus risk to their refuse staff.

However the decision attracted criticism amongst many residents, who were at a loss as to how they were going to get their waste uplifted and feared that it could encourage rats on their streets.

However just hours later the local authority u-turned on their decision.
