JODHPUR: Hailing the Jat leaders of past naming Madernas, Mirdhas and likes, Meghalaya governor Satya Pal Malik said on Friday that people of Rajasthan may remember Pratap, but he remembers Jat leaders, who did a lot for the community and their lands.
With this, he again trained his guns on the central leadership for the handling of farmers' movement and asserted that he would continue to stand for the community.
Malik, who was in Jodhpur to attend a book release event by the Marwar Jat Mahasabha on Friday, said that farmers' movement was not over and won't be until all their demands were met.
He said that he has always spoken for the farmers without caring for his seat and since he has nothing to lose, he could dare to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the farmers' issue. "There was always an apprehension lest there was a call from Delhi while talking about farmers," he said adding that even at this moment, he was apprehensive of the same as he may get a call after this address. "They could not be muzzled. They know how to get their demands met. If these demands were not met, they would again resume their agitation," he said adding that nobody was bothered about the death of 700 farmers during the agitation, so he had to speak up.
Issuing a warning to the centre, Malik said, "Farmers would take what they want. If not given through talks, they would take it through fight. If not even through fight, then through violence," he said.
In a bid to scare the centre, he said that it was his advice to Delhi is that do not mess with them. They are dangerous people," he said.
