'Don't make me go and get someone!' Steve Morison's dressing room warning to Cardiff City forwards as he confirms interest in Man City starlet

Cardiff City boss Steve Morison issued a transfer warning to his forward players as he bemoaned his side's lack of cutting edge in the final third after the defeat by Blackburn Rovers.

The Bluebirds were defeated courtesy of a solitary strike from Joe Rothwell in the first half, however anyone watching the game would tell you they were the dominant side.

What was clear is that, for all their endeavour, Cardiff lacked real quality in that final third.

Cardiff enjoyed 66 percent of possession and fired off 10 shots, but still left the field without a goal to their name and, unfortunately, another loss on the tally.

"I watched the game and we are getting it from A to B to C really well, controlled, and we are doing it a hell of a lot," Morison said after the match.

"Two-thirds of it is excellent, but the final third has got to be better. We cannot keep saying, 'Oh, we were unlucky, oh the keeper made an unbelievable save'.

"We need to be better in the final third. We have got to put the ball in the back of the net.

"And if the boys in the dressing room are not capable of doing it, we will try and get people who are better at doing it.

"There are too many games where we have done that. Hull at home, QPR at home, Blackburn at home. No one can tell me we weren't as good as Blackburn today, but we haven't put the ball in the back of the net. So, ultimately, we are not as good.

"Like I said to them in the dressing room. We are going to sustain our work defensively, giving up very, very little chances, we are going to sustain our work in terms of progression from back to front, but we are going to have to spend a lot more time over the next two weeks getting better in the final third."

The transfer window is, of course, open, and Cardiff are thought to be in the market for those forward positions.

But Morison's message to his players is simple: Don't give me a reason to replace you.

"The boys need help. We need to be better in the final third," he added.

"Like I said to the players in there, 'Don't make me go and get someone for the final third from elsewhere'."

One player who has been linked with a move to the Welsh capital is 20-year-old Manchester City midfielder Tommy Doyle.

Morison said he would, ideally, like to add "another two or three" before the window closes and confirmed the club's interest in the young midfielder.

"Yeah, he is a player that we like, a player that we have looked at," Morison said of Doyle.

"Until it's done, let's not commit to anything just yet."
