While Paris is often referred to as the “bed bug capital of the world,” it hasn’t had a major outbreak since the 2023 Olympic Games, which were held in the French capital.
However, if Kassidy’s (@anxious_baddie) TikToks are anything to go by, things are going downhill. And fast.
In her first TikTok on the issue, she shared footage of bites all over her body, brown track marks, and what looks like blood on the bed, bloodshot eyes, and, worst of all, visible bugs crawling around on the sheets. This disturbing video, which has amassed 16.3 million views, was set to the classical opera music Carmen Habanera.
“Dream Paris hotel room,” she said sarcastically in the video description.
In her first follow-up video, she revealed that she stayed in the Grand Hotel de Paris. While in the second one, she showed even more inflamed bite marks on her body, face, and even eyelid. Continuing the operatic theme, this time, In the Hall of the Mountain King played.
Commenters shared their advice
Across the videos, commenters shared their concerns and urgent advice for Cassidy.
“Don’t bring your luggage back in the house!” one wrote. “Seriously do NOT.”
A second echoed these sentiments, saying: “LEAVE ALL YOUR ITEMS THERE.”
“Make sure it’s ONLY bedbugs and not ALSO scabies,” a third added.
‘That’s a really bad infestation if they are coming out in daylight,” a fourth noted, while a fifth asked the obvious question. “Why would you sleep there?” they asked. “I would have left that room so fast.”

How can you tell if you have bed bugs?
According to WebMD, the biggest sign of bed bugs is small, itchy bites on your skin. The health site also claims that these bites are often in clusters as opposed to being individual.
Other signs include:
- Spots of blood on your sheets
- Small pale eggs or eggshells
- Tiny black dots/bed bug poop
- Bed bug body shells, which look like the bugs themselves
- A musty, sweet odour near your bed
- Literal bed bugs crawling around your bed
