Don’t go chasing Waters, Fall – catching up with Boston’s two way duo

Boston Celtics two way players Tacko Fall and Tremont Waters spend a lot of time together due to their assignment with the Celtics’ developmental affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.

And given that G League outfit is base two hours to the north of Boston in Portland Maine, a lot of that time is spent shuttling back and forth from the Celtics’ practice facility to the Portland Expo Building.

So, the duo have naturally grown close over the course of the 2019-20 NBA and G League seasons, even rooming together on road trips with the Red Claws.

They’ve even come to appreciate their individual senses of humor — which is good given how much of each other’s company they take up.

“He’s one of the funniest dudes I know,” offered Fall in a recent interview with the North Andover Eagle-Tribune’s Bill Burt.

“[Waters] just makes me laugh all of the time. Honestly, the things he says sometimes make me laugh,” he added.

When the LSU product heard his teammate’s assessment, he chuckled himself, incredulously responding “Me? He’s the funny one!”

“We are together a lot,” added the Connecticut native. “He’s got a good sense of humor, sort of goofball stuff. He’s dry.”

While the duo might be well-matched in terms of humor, Waters is probably the better basketball player at this stage of their career,. He’s earned Player of the Week and Month honors in the G League this season while averaging 19.2 points, 7.3 assists and 2.2 steals per game in the developmental league.

The Senegalese center isn’t far behind with 12.8 points, 11.1 boards and 3 blocks per contest with the Claws.

Both have played some meaningful minutes with the parent club this season, and if they keep up the hectic pace of growth they’ve shown so far, the pair could very well end up teammates on the regular roster — perhaps as soon as next season.
