STEVEN DAVIS has admitted the Rangers players haven't been good enough this season.
The Northern Ireland international, 37, accepts the playing staff have to take some responsibility for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's dismissal last week.
The Dutchman was sacked on Monday, November 21 with recent results and performances deemed unacceptable as Rangers slipped nine points behind Celtic.
Davis reckons the players are well aware of the "shared responsibility" for a difficult period for the club in the Champions League and in domestic competition.
But he also urged supporters not to forget the "good work" Van Bronckhorst and his staff did at Rangers in leading them to a Europa League final and lifting the Scottish Cup.
"Without doubt, there has to be," said Davis when quizzed on whether players have looked at their own performances after Van Bronckhorst's dismissal.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he continued: "We all carry a shared responsibility.
"The results haven't been good enough. We're the first to admit that, we're the players that go out on the pitch.
"You're given instructions going out there and it hasn't been good enough.
"You don't want to see anybody lose their job - and I think it kind of got lost a little bit the season that we had last season in terms of getting to the Europa League final and being that close to achieving something really special.
"Then obviously getting the Scottish Cup win, so I don't think anybody should forget the good work Gio and his staff did.
"And of course over a period of time I think the fans will really appreciate that and certainly as a group of players we do.
"From our own point of view and personally and as a collective group of players it hasn't been good enough this year and we need to turn that round."
Van Bronckhorst was dismissed from his position one year after taking charge at Rangers.
He led the club to a Europa League final where they were eventually pipped by Eintracht Frankfurt in a cruel penalty shoot-out defeat.
However, just days later Rangers were celebrating as they lifted the Scottish Cup.
