Don't come to hospital for a Covid test, Nottingham health officials warn

Nottingham University Hospitals have urged people not to go to hospitals to be tested for coronavirus.

Those who are admitted to the hospitals emergency department will be tested for Covid-19, but people who are only looking for tests should not seek out hospitals.

NUH, which runs the Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospitals, has also made it clear that people with hospital appointments must have a negative lateral flow test before they enter.

A recent tweet posted by NUH is a poster detailing how the public can help workers, with a message saying that violence or aggression towards staff who ask for proof of a negative result will not be tolerated.

A spokesperson for NUH said: "If you need to be in our emergency department, you will be tested for Covid, but please do not come her only to be tested.

"We are not a test centre."
