What Tim Krul said to Mason Mount before Chelsea penalty vs Norwich

Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul attempted to play mind games with Chelsea’s Mason Mount before he had to retake a penalty in their 7-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues soared into the lead in the first half as Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James all found the back of the net.

The second half continued the same way the first ended. Ben Chilwell’s strike was his fourth goal in consecutive league games for the Blues before a Max Aarons own goal and a red card for defender Ben Gibson.

The home side then saw VAR come into action as Antonio Rudiger’s strike was handled by Mathias Normann.

A penalty was given, and as is often the case when it comes to Tim Krul in goal, he played a few mind games to get inside Mount's head.

The Norwich keeper was seen saying to Mount: "Don't change your mind," which had the desired effect, as Mount's poor spot-kick was palmed away by Krul.

However, Mount was to have the last laugh, as Krul was off his line in saving the penalty and a retake was ordered.

There was a slight discussion between Ross Barkley and Mount over who took the penalty, but it was the number eight who opted to step up once again.

Once again, Krul had things to say to Mount, although they could not be seen, but Mount made up for the first spot-kick by going straight down the middle to make it 6-0.

It would get better for Mount yet again, as he calmly finished for his hat-trick thanks to a brilliant run and pass from Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The Blues now go four points clear of Liverpool, with the Reds having a game in hand against Manchester United on Sunday.
