Don't buy an Amazon Echo or Google Home speaker this month - here's why

They’re two of the most popular speakers, but if you’re considering buying an Amazon Echo or a Google Home, we would advise holding off.

That’s because Amazon and Google are both launching new smart speakers this month!

Google has confirmed that at least one new speaker will be unveiled on September 30, alongside a host of other hardware products.

It explained: “We invite you to learn all about our new Chromecast, our smart speakers and our new Pixel phones.”

Google has also teased images and a video of the device, which looks very different to its predecessors.

According to The Verge, who were sent images of the new speaker, the device will come in a stunning pastel blue colour, and can be stood up on its end or laid flat on surfaces.

The video also appears to show the speaker being picked up and moved around the house, indicating it may work without a power cable attached.

Meanwhile, Amazon is hosting a launch event on September 24, indicating that a new Amazon Echo speaker could be revealed this week.

Details about Amazon’s new speaker are pretty scarce, and it remains unclear if it will be an entirely new device, or an upgrade to the existing Echo Dot and Echo Plus speakers.
