'Don't bother coming back': Indian restaurant owner goes viral with response to TripAdvisor review

An Indian restaurant has gone viral and received lots of support after hitting out in response to a bad review from an unsatisfied customer, who claimed the three course meal was a rip-ff - despite paying just £3.50

A review of Shimla Cottage in Lanarkshire, Scotland, posted on TripAdvisor upset the manager who slammed the critic for having “no shame” for claiming in the review the bargain meal was not good value.

The reviewer slammed the restaurant, saying the owner “was very rude” with an “awful lack on manners”, the Daily Record reported.

The reviewer says her party went to the restaurant for a large family meal, and accused the portion sizes of being “very small” despite apparently ordering from a smaller menu where a three-course meal is just £3.50. They lamented: “You only get what you pay for and even at the price felt like an absolute rip off.” The review also billed Shimla Cottage “the worst ever Indian restaurant”.

Not one to take criticism lying down, the manager responded to the review in brutal fashion.

The response said: "Judging from the waist line of most of your party I could have served them a full cow and they would still have left hungry."

Ouch.

The response went on to justify the portion sizes, saying the customer should have ordered off the main menu if they wanted something bigger before encouraging the party not to “bother coming back”.

The response has gone viral on Twitter, with people posting a link to the Shimla Cottage TripAdviser page and recommending people visit if they need a giggle.

One Twitter user said: “£3.50 lunch what the hell do people want??”

Another said: "Been there for the £3.50 lunch a few times. Can’t beat it"
