Domino's takes on KFC with new chicken item - but some fans are not happy

Domino's has tried to fill the gap left by KFC closing its doors with a new chicken item.

The pizza chain has launched boxes of Pop'N Chicken, which look a lot like KFC's popcorn chicken, aimed at people who order takeaways while watching film marathons.

Priced at £5.99, it was launched with the tagline: "New Pop’n Chicken. Popular with extinct carnivores, as well as peckish movie-marathoners".

The news could help to fill a gap left by KFC closing its doors last month to deliveries. While some KFC branches have now reopened and are offering delivery, much of the country cannot get their hands on the fried chicken.

Josh Engleman, Domino’s Chicken Connoisseur said: We’re proud to be bringing a little joy to the nation by delivering piping hot pizzas in these uncertain times. This week we’ve introduced the perfect side to your favourite pizza.”

“It’s not always about the crust and we’ve perfected our poultry game over the years. With a generous portion size and fantastic taste, we’re confident Pop’n Chicken will be a real hit with Domino’s customers!“

However, some fans were not convinced by the news and instead asked for Domino's to reinstate some of its pizza favourites before launching new products.

One fan said: "Bring back the Double Decadence!"

While another said: "My local delivery place isn't even offering the normal menu with only 8 pizzas availble. Might want to sort that out before adding new items."

However, Domino's insists it is limited menus to protect staff in store. It says: "to ensure our teams in store can maintain safe working distances we are running a simplified menu. Although your usual order may not be available, there are still plenty of delicious pizzas and sides on the menu for customers to choose from."

The Pop'N Chicken will be available for a limited time only from Domino's takeaways.
