Domino's take action over sickening footage of RATS outside takeaway

Footage filmed outside a Liverpool city centre branch of a major pizza takeaway chain shows the sickening moment customers spotted rats after picking up a pizza.

Sent to the ECHO , the video was taken outside Domino's London Road branch.

In the short clip, believed to have been filmed yesterday evening, the rats are shown inside empty dough trays left out by Domino's for collection.

They can be seen scampering among the trays, which are stacked at different heights outside the branch.

A spokesperson for Domino's said: "As a store rated five stars by the Food Standards Agency we take hygiene seriously, so were very sorry to see this film of empty dough trays outside our premises awaiting collection.

"Domino’s conducts strict monthly hygiene checks through external contractors and we’d like to reassure customers this is entirely an external issue,  unfortunately exasperated by neighbouring businesses.

"We’ve been in touch with Liverpool City Council to share our concerns about pest control within the neighbourhood and hope to see this issue resolved swiftly.

"As precautionary measures, we’re implementing additional pest control measures externally and will keep trays awaiting collection within our store from now on. ”
