The future of Domino's deliveries in a south Dublin area could be in doubt after it is being reported that a "fifth driver" was "attacked" in recent weeks in the area.
The driver, a man in his 50s, was delivering food to an address in Tallaght on Sunday evening when the car he was driving was targeted by thugs.
Significant damage was caused to the vehicle and food and other valuable items were taken from inside.
The person who ordered the pizza told a local neighbourhood watch group: "I ordered a pizza from Domino's on Sunday night. They are usually efficient enough but an hour after ordering, there was no sign.
"I rang up and the girl on the phone told me that my driver was attacked in the Homelawns area.
"She said that it was the fifth time in the last few weeks that a driver had been attacked.
"She told me that she wasn't sending another driver down to the Homelawns area for safety reasons."
A spokeswoman for Domino's told Dublin Live that "the incident had been reported to gardai" and that they were unable to comment further on the matter.
She added: "The safety of our colleagues and contractors is of paramount importance to us."
A spokeswoman for Gardai confirmed that they were investigating the incident and that no arrests have been made yet.
In April, Tesco curtailed deliveries in a small number of areas in west Tallaght due to anti-social behaviour.
It is claimed that drivers have apparently been 'intimidated, robbed and even shot at with a pellet gun' while on duty.
