Domino's Pizza CEO and chairman to both quit

Domino's Pizza chief executive David Wild and chairman Stephen Hemsley have both announced they plan to quit the company.

Wild will continue until a new boss is in place and Hemsley said he will oversee the recruitment process but will leave the takeaway business once a new chairman is appointed.

Wild and Hemsley's decision to quit after five years and 11 years respectively comes as Domino's revealed a long-running dispute with franchisees remains ongoing and will lead to delays in new store openings.

Domino's also revealed sales in the six months to June 30 grew 3.5% to £295.6 million, but pre-tax profits slumped 27% to £30.5 million. The company's preferred underlying pre-tax profits were down 7.4% at £42.3 million, although sales in the UK and Ireland were up 5.5%.

Wild said: "The performance of our International business is very challenging and trading visibility remains limited. The weakest performance was in Norway, although we also saw increasing losses in Sweden and Switzerland. Iceland profitability was impacted by the weak macro-economic backdrop. We are very focused on improving our operational capability across our International markets and will provide a further update at our full year results."

Emily Somers is joining the group as chief marketing officer having previously been vice president of marketing and food development at McDonalds.
