Domino's Pizza breaks silence over claims it's overcharging during coronavirus lockdown

Domino’s has spoken out after a series of claims that it was overcharging and ‘taking ages’ to refund customers during the coronavirus lockdown.

Customers have been criticsising the pizza firm this week after seeing unexpectedly big bills, charged more than once and even charged without ever receiving their order, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Many have taken to Twitter to request refunds in these situations, including one person who said: "Domino's took my payment twice, delivered half the order & was told the rest would be sent out to us...didn't happen.

"Gave up trying to get to the Newark branch after 15 attempts with no answer. Maybe if you cant meet the demand at this difficult time, give your teams a break."

Another user replied: “I wish Domino's would listen to complaints more but unfortunately they are more bothered about a profit than customer satisfaction and staff well being... Definitely complain and try get a refund especially if you didn't receive your full order, ridiculous.”

Another said: “Tried paying on the Domino's app using Kotak Debit card. The amount was debited but the order didn't go through as the server timed out on the app.

“Need a refund as it's showing the payment went through.”

A third added: “Ordered Pizza for NHS and Council key workers. Price charged to me after adding an 'NHS discount' higher than regular menu price on the website.

“Manager was very reluctant to refund and simply charged the same price as the general public. Thanks Domino's."

A Domino’s spokesperson has now responded to the claims and confirmed all customers waiting on refunds will get their money back.

A spokesperson for Domino’s told the Liverpool Echo : “Our store teams have been working tirelessly to deliver fresh pizza and we’re sorry to customers who experienced issues when ordering over the weekend.

“The majority of customers affected have received refunds and the remaining should happen within a few days depending on their bank.”
