Domino's launch wedding pizza competition for couples saying "I do-ugh"

As August is traditionally the most popular month to get married, Domino's are offering to cater the weddings of 10 soon-to-be-weds.

Pizza is hardly a traditional weeding meal, but as Confetti Magazine Editor Laura Cunningham points out, “People are looking for different ways to celebrate and I see a lot of couples leaning towards a less formal meal or replacing the late-evening feast with food that guests really want.”

Research carried out by Domino’s shows that 50% of guests admitted to being served food they didn’t like at weddings and 71% of couples said they plan to serve their favourite food on their big day so it stands to reason that more people are investing in a food that everyone loves: pizza!

To be in with a chance of winning a Domino's catering package, pizza-passionistas simply need to email TyingTheKnot@dominosireland.com

Winners can choose from traditional favourites including the Pepperoni Passion, Hawaiian and Vegi Supreme - or create their own from thousands of possible topping combinations.

Laura continues: “Couples also have to take into account new food trends and dietary requirements when organising food for their guests. Domino’s delivers something for everyone; omnivores, carnivores, vegetarians, as well as gluten free pizzas and a lower calorie options.”

“Many couples invite more guests to join them for a bigger party after the main meal so it’s fun to offer a flexible, sharing food, such as pizza, so everyone feels part of the big night.”

Ian Straughan, Head of Product Innovation at Domino’s comments:  “We’re seeing a growing trend in Ireland from couples requesting pizza to provide wedding guests with a fun, modern twist.  With wedding season in full swing, we were surprised to learn that almost a third of wedding guests (29%) don't like the traditional food they're served.

"Nearly half (47%) even admit they tend to avoid at least one course, leaving them hungry for an alternative to soggy sandwiches and dehydrated chicken nuggets later in the evening.”

“Choice and experience are key to catering for large groups and Domino’s delivers fresh, great quality, hot food ensuring everyone will be happy, whether it’s a Cheeseburger pizza, a Vegi Supreme or a Delight Pizza with only 650 calories.”
