Domino's is giving away 10,000 free pizzas today

Domino’s is giving away 10,000 free pizzas today but if you want to claim one you’ll have to be quick. The first ten people to walk into each of its 1,000 UK stores will be handed a free slab of melted cheesey goodness.

Once a branch has given away its ten pizzas the deal will be over in that store. Most Domino’s outlets open at 10am or 11am and don’t expect the giveaway to last long.

Those harbouring dreams of a giant 15-inch pepperoni-covered pizza should be aware that the freebies on offer will be strictly seven-inch cheese and tomato. Still, not bad for a free lunch.

The special offer is to celebrate the official opening of Domino’s 1,000th UK store today in Overton, Hampshire.

Domino’s will also be hiding 100 “Domi-notes” - fictional currency that you can swap for a free pizza - in and around Overton.

Chief executive, David Wild said: “A thousand stores is a major milestone for our business and we’re extremely proud. But it’s the validation of our fantastic pizzas from our thousands of customers that really counts.

“‘Domi-Day’ is our way of saying thank you for their continued loyalty and support and we look forward to opening more stores, creating more jobs and delivering more pizza over the next 30 years and beyond.”

Domino’s has been flying high lately, having reported a more than 9 per cent increase in profit in the first half of 2017, helped by the launch of a chocolate-covered pizza and the opening of 40 new stores – despite deep economic uncertainty.

The UK’s biggest pizza chain said last week that underlying profit before tax rose to £44.6m in the 26-week period, and that earnings per share rose by just under 10 per cent.
