Domino's apologises after creating a pizza that 'insults both Italy and England'

There are some things in life which people very strongly about.

In England, this currently includes penalties, how to make a cup of tea and fish and chip pizza.

The fusion food, which is available only in Japan at Domino's has sparked a discussion online -after many were divided over the culinary delight.

It sparked such an uproar that the official account for Domino's in Japan apologised after one man jokily tweeted: "Japan Dominos have invented a dish that insults both England and Italy."

The official account replied: "We are sorry our fish and chip pizza has caused so much trouble. We think it’s quite delicious. If you are in Japan and would like to challenge let us know.

The pizza includes a tartar sauce base (Dominos)

"We may be able to work out a plan internally that we can offer to you for free."

The listed ingredients include crispy fish and chips, lemon, potato slices, and basil, with a tartar sauce and tomato sauce base.

Available here, a regular size fish and chips pizza is on sale for ¥3,599, the equivalent of £23.

People were divided, with some left feeling unsure about the whole lemon slices, which include the rind of the sour fruit.

The official Twitter account issued an apology (Twitter)

One tweeted: "I was about to say that I’d try it until I saw the whole ass lemon wedges. Nah sis you gotta drizzle it, not bake it into the whole pie."

Another added: "There is NO way those whole lemon slices are gonna be good."

"Eh, I’ve seen worse versions of fish and chips over here so it’s not too bad. The lemon is overdoing it a bit but it’s not like having lemon with fish and chips is unusual.

"I’m sure at this point the Italians are just numb to pizza abominations though lmao," wrote one person.

But many more were keen and felt fairly disappointed we've not been offered a fish and chip pizza over here.

"Japanese on the frontier of culinary excellence yet again," raved one fan.

"Honestly with some sriracha or chilli flakes I bet it bangs," added another.

One Japanese resident replied: "Honestly, I had the same initial reaction but I have heard nothing but good things about this pizza."
