Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who retired halfway through the 2018 season as a member of the Oakland Raiders and then “unretired” last week on social media, has agreed to terms with the Washington Redskins.
The 32-year-old veteran cornerback will be playing alongside former New York Giants teammate Landon Collins, who also signed with the Redskins this week.
DRC, as he is known, played for the Giants for four seasons from 2014 through 2017, coming to Big Blue as a big ticket free agent on a five-year, $35 million deal. He played in the same secondary as Collins from 2015 through his final year in Blue, 2017.
Rodgers-Cromartie was released by the Giants last March in a cost-cutting move that saved the club $6.5 million. He signed with the Raiders in August but decided to pack it in after Week 8. Then, last week, in change of heart, DRC got the itch to play again.
DRC is an 11-year NFL veteran who entered the league in 2008 as the No. 16 overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He has appeared in 160 career regular season games with 121 starts. He played in Denver and Philadelphia as well. DRC has been named to the Pro Bowl twice in his career (2009, 2015).
