Dominik Szoboszlai could be set for instant reunion as Man City close in on £86m defender

The transfer window is in full swing as we begin the month of July.

Liverpool have kicked things with off a £60million deal for RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, a transfer the Reds' rivals will be eager to respond to in the coming weeks. Jurgen Klopp's side first recruited Alexis Mac Allister and are now adding further quality to the ranks.

Arsenal could soon be completing a midfield addition of their own, with a move for Declan Rice yet to be finalised, meanwhile Manchester City have already added Mateo Kovacic to their squad.

Chelsea and Manchester United both have a big few weeks ahead of them, the former looking to continue their rebuilding job as the latter widen their search for a new striker. And below is a round-up of the latest rumours relating to the Reds' closest competitors.

Manchester United

The Red Devils have reportedly seen an opening offer worth €30million (£25.7m) rejected for Atalanta forward, Rasmus Hojlund.

That is according to Corriere dello Sport, who state the Italian club value the player at a figure between €40m and €45m.

Hojlund scored 16 goals and registered seven assists in all competitions last season, during what was his debut campaign with the Serie A side.

Chelsea

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is said to be keen on holding talks with Mauricio Pochettino before making any decision on his future.

The centre-back is a player admired by the Reds, though the Londoners appear reluctant to offload the youngster despite interest from other clubs.

Brighton have already seen a £30million bid rejected for the 20-year-old, though could return with an improved offer for the player they had on loan last season.

Sky Sports have claimed Colwill "wishes to understand where he fits into Pochettino's plans" before discussing new terms.

Manchester City

Manchester City target Josko Gvardiol is "on the verge of leaving" RB Leipzig.

The Croatian centre-back has been linked to Liverpool and other top clubs in recent months after impressing for both club and country and may now be on the move.

BILD have claimed Gvardiol, who grew up as a Liverpool fan, could be following Szoboszlai out of the door and has "already reached an agreement" to sign for City. The article adds Leipzig are "willing to discuss" a transfer deal should they receive an offer worth at least €100million (£86m).

Arsenal

Arsenal are understood to be the latest Premier League side to have registered an interest in City defender, Aymreric Laporte.

The Gunners recruited Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from the Citizens last campaign and Mikel Arteta has now reportedly set his sights on another player from the club.

Mundo Deportivo have explained Laporte's former employers Athletic Bilbao are yet to make an official approach to bring the Spaniard back to the club, while listing Arsenal and Juventus as two teams they will have to compete with. Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have, too, been linked with Laporte.

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs have "opened the door" for defender Sergio Reguilon to leave the club this summer, it has been suggested. The Spanish left-back joined the Lilywhites in 2020 and is under contract at the London club for a further two years.

Reguilon spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid and is not likely to make a return to the Tottenham team next term, as reported by El Confidencial, as Ange Postecoglou "does not trust" him.

Osasuna are mentioned as one of the clubs considering "giving him a chance", though discussions over a transfer fee are yet to have taken place.

Newcastle

Newcastle United are admirers of Arsenal forward Reiss Nelson, whose contract at the Emirates Stadium recently expired.

The Gunners have put forward the offer of a new deal for the 23-year-old, though it is yet to emerge whether or not he is happy to commit to the terms being proposed by the London club.

Looking to take advantage of this uncertain situation, Football Transfers have indicated the Magpies have enquired about Nelson's availability.
