Dominick Reyes changes tune on Jon Jones, thanks ‘light heavyweight GOAT’ for experience

It appears Dominick Reyes has moved on from Jon Jones – at least for now.

Since dropping a razor-thin decision loss to then UFC light heavyweight champion Jones, Reyes (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) has been chomping at the bit to run things back with “Bones.”

But, after Jones (25-1 MMA, 20-1 UFC) vacated his title, Reyes claimed that the long-reigning champion relinquished his belt because of him and that his ego won’t let him admit it.

Jones responded, reminding Reyes of what happened to both Alexander Gustafsson and Daniel Cormier when he rematched them, both whom he finished.

With Jones moving up to heavyweight, Reyes will now face Jan Blachowicz for the vacant light heavyweight title in the co-main event of UFC 253 on Sept. 26.

Reyes may not be getting his rematch, but he has decided to put his rivalry with Jones behind him. He left the former champion a surprising, but complimentary, message on Twitter, wishing him luck in hopes that they get to square off again down the line.

Hey @JonnyBones thank you for the experience man, I wish you the best of luck in your journey. I know things got a lil crazy, but I just wanted to be pushed beyond my perceived limits by the LHW GOAT again. God bless and God willing we get to dance under those lights again. Folded hands✌
