Dominic West 's wife Catherine FitzGerald gave a candid insight into their marriage after the Lily James scandal.
Their marriage was in a storm of headlines after cosy photos of The Affair actor and Lily on a mini break in Rome emerged in October last year.
In a rare interview, the landscaper admitted their marriage had its "ups and downs" on reflection.
However, Catherine insisted the couple were "totally devoted to each other" and their "vibrant family life" including their four kids: Dora, 15, Senan, 13, Francis, 12, and Christabel, seven.
She told The Irish Independent : "It's had its ups and downs of course, like everybody, but we are totally devoted to each other and to our full, vibrant family life together."
Elsewhere in the interview, Catherine gushed over their "wonderful love affair" when they first met at college.
"We had a wonderful love affair," she said.
However, Catherine left Dominic at the end of the summer — something she said he's never let her forget.
But love conquers all as they rekindled their love when Catherine was 32 and ready to start a family.
She added: "But at the end of the summer, I left him, and he has not let me forget it! But I couldn't have settled down with him right then forever. That would not have been a good idea for either of us."
Catherine stood by her husband Dominic when the Lily scandal rocked the showbiz world to its core last year.
They made a powerful statement outside their home when they held up a sign to photographers.
The sign read: "Our marriage is strong and we're very much still together. Thank you. Catherine and Dominic."
It's reported Dominic has promised his wife Catherine he would cut all contact with Lily.
