Dominic Solanke's England message to Tammy Abraham and former Chelsea team-mates

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke is dreaming of a reunion with his former Chelsea team-mates in Gareth Southgate's England squad.

Southgate has called up a quartet of Chelsea players - Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Ross Barkley - for Euro 2020 qualifiers in the Czech Republic and Bulgaria whilst Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are also waiting in the wings.

For the time being Solanke is on the outside looking in as he waits to add to his one senior cap, earned in a friendly against Brazil in November 2017. However like many youngsters the 22-year-old is taking heart from Southgate's commitment to blooding prospects, with 11 of the 24 man squad aged 23 or younger.

"It is good for all of us to see that Gareth is calling up the youth, it gives us all a chance to push for that," Solanke said.

"I think it would be fun, a lot of us have known each other from six or seven years old so it is nice to see everyone doing so well and hopefully we can play again together for England one day."

As Solanke vies to earn back his place in the England squad - he has featured in every one of Bournemouth's game this season but so far is yet to find the net - he has seen former team-mate Abraham rise in Southgate's affections.

The Chelsea striker has certainly earned his place, scoring nine goals in 11 games for Chelsea, to return to the England squad for the first time since he made his debut in 2017.

Solanke said: "You can see what he is doing, he has had a fantastic start to the season and is doing what he is doing for Chelsea so hopefully he can take that onto the international stage as well."
