Dominic Solanke 'injury fears' as Randal Kolo Muani hands Tottenham a fitness boost

Fears are growing that Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke could miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.

Solanke went down off the ball during the first half of Spurs’ 1-0 win away to Wolves, and required lengthy treatment before being withdrawn.

The 28-year-old only recently returned to fitness after struggling with a recurring ankle injury, and reports suggest he has now been ruled out for the final four games of Spurs’ relegation fight.

The Telegraph report that Solanke has suffered a grade 2 hamstring injury, which could see him sidelined for between three to eight weeks.

It is another injury hammer blow for Spurs and head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who in the same game lost Xavi Simons to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Simons was stretchered off at Molineux following a coming together with Wolves defender Hugo Bueno. He will miss the World Cup and may not play again of the rest of the year.

De Zerbi has now lost three players to season-ending injuries since taking charge of Spurs a little under a month ago, with Simons joining Cristian Romero and Mohammed Kudus on the sidelines.

Solanke would be the fourth.

In more positive news, Randal Kolo Muani is believed to be fit for Sunday’s game away to Aston Villa, despite rumours suggesting he had suffered a hamstring injury.

The French forward was withdrawn at half-time as Spurs secured their first league win of the calendar year against Wolves on Saturday.

Kolo Muani has endured a difficult campaign, but with De Zerbi struggling for options in attack, the Spurs boss will be glad to be able to call upon the 27-year-old.

De Zerbi will speak to the press on Friday afternoon, where he will offer an update on Solanke and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Vicario has not featured in any of De Zerbi’s first three games at the helm after undergoing hernia surgery over the international break.

De Zerbi said in his pre-match press conference last Friday that he hoped to have the Italian shot-stopper back in training early this week.
