Dominic Solanke drops surprise Tottenham injury return hint

Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke has dropped a surprise update on his return from injury.

Solanke has been sidelined since August with an ankle problem, before belatedly undergoing surgery in October.

Spurs head coach Thomas Frank has been coy regarding an update on Solanke’s progress.

In November, Frank told reporters that he “hoped” Solanke would be able to play again before January.

This week, Solanke was removed from Spurs’ Champions League squad, and replaced by Mathys Tel, ruling him out of European competition until the end of January.

Frank insisted soon after that the change was not due to an injury setback, but rather to UEFA regulations.

And now Solanke has posted on social media to suggest his return to action may not be too far away.

The striker has posted an image of himself on his Instagram story, captioned by two hourglasses.

New UEFA rules allow clubs to replace an injured player in their squad if they can provide evidence that he is on the sidelines for at least 60 days.

Once Solanke is fit again, he can come back into the squad to replace Tel. Clubs are able to change their squads again ahead of the knockout stages in February.
