Dominic Raab stayed on holiday for two days after being advised to return to work because Boris Johnson told he he could, it has been claimed.
The Foreign Secretary was reportedly told by a senior No10 official to come back from his Crete beach holiday on Friday, August 13.
But according to the Times, Mr Raab "nobbled" the PM, who agreed that he could stay at the luxury resort until last Sunday evening.
A senior Government official told the Times: "Raab was told to come back on Friday.
"On Sunday there was a sense of disbelief among everyone at the most senior levels in No 10 that he wasn’t there.
"He seems to have nobbled Boris after he was told to come back.”
It comes after a chaotic week in Whitehall, when Mr Raab was slammed for enjoying a luxury beach holiday in Crete while Afghanistan’s capital fell to the Taliban.

Foreign Office officials had urged Mr Raab to speak to the Afghan foreign minister Hanif Atmar to ask for help in the desperate scramble to evacuate interpreters last Friday, as Taliban forces took control of Kabul.
But Mr Raab was said to be "unavailable" in his lavish Crete hotel - where witnesses reported seeing him on the beach paddleboarding and sunbathing.
Mr Raab defended his decision to delegate the call to junior minister Lord Goldsmith - saying he was “prioritising security and capacity at the airport”.
Labour ’s Shadow Foreign Secretary Lisa Nandy has called for Mr Raab to be sacked or resign over his “catastrophic failure of judgement”.
Downing Street declined to comment.
