Dominic McKay's full Celtic 'in tray' lies in wait as incoming chief in Murrayfield watching brief

Incoming Celtic chief executive Dominic McKay appears to still have plenty on his plate as he watched Scotland vs Ireland Six Nations clash.

The highly-rated decision-maker tasked with replacing Peter Lawwell from this summer is currently overseeing the country's progress in the annual tournament.

And he took his seat at Murrayfield with the Scots looking to make up for lost time after their clash with France last month was postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak in the opposition's squad.

His colleague at the SRU, chief operating officer Mark Dodson, insists McKay isn't expected to make the switch to football any earlier than his July 1 start date.

Some members of the Parkhead support reckon that could come too late to instigate the overhaul required at the club with a new manager and director of football the top priorities to sort out before Champions League qualifiers kick off their season that same month.

Dodson joked that McKay will have a "very full in-tray" when he eventually pitches up in Glasgow - a move announced at the end of January on the same day as Lawwell's impending retirement.

If a manager is appointed before his scheduled first day in office it's safe to assume he'll had had some input and a man that appears interested in the post is Roy Keane.

The Irishman is of course a former Celtic player and his closeness with principal shareholder Dermot Desmond in addition to his past comments about it being the "right club, wrong time" when he was approached in 2014 could give rise to a fresh approach.
